[STEERING SYSTEM FOR AUTOMOBILE]

1. Background of application :

The president Hong (31), Soonyoung, the Patent holder, and also as the inventor of the apparatus for the electronically powered steering system (EPS) have found “MECATECH Co. Ltd” and launched his business on 2001. He has dispatched brochures and the patent specification which was prepared by UNIS to the major automobile companies and the part manufacturers in Japan, USA and Europe. He has received the invitations from KAYABA in Japan, and FORD and BISTION in USA etc, for the following business procedures. MECATECH has decided to participate in the SAE exhibition for the automobile parts (Detroit MOTOR SHOW) which will be held in Mar 2002, and successfully induced the fund which is the amount of 40 times of its capital.
We hope that the super cars of the world will install our steering system soon.

2. Analyzing the Client’s request

President Hong’s idea was as following at the time of request. The former steering system was constituted with the steering wheel, steering shaft, and the steering link, and it was operated by the movement of the steering link from side to side which is powered by the turning force of steering wheel through the steering shaft. While the new method of President Hong’s is the switching system with the motor which is attached to the steering wheel shaft, and when the motor is rotating, this rotary power is delivered to the shaft, so when steering wheel is operated, the electric signal is delivered to the motor to rotate.
Therefore, the driver will be able to operate without much power on the wheeling due to the rotary power of the motor which is supporting the steering shaft.
In details, the core ideas of this invention are constituted with the switching device which is generating the signal reacted by the driver’s steering wheel operation and the electric measures which will make the steering shaft move to the right or left side easily against the one way rotating motor’s selective contacts to the shaft

3. Preparing the Patent Specification and the Result

Based on the given information, UNIS has searched precedent patent cases from the Patent DB of Korea and other countries, and confirmed that there is no similar concept of EPS systems with the applicants’. And also UNIS has found out that the EPS system is the one of the core developing technology that the major companies of the world are investing the huge efforts on it. So, right after we have confirmed that this technology has no mechanical problems when it was applied, then we prepared the specification and the filing. Because there were no similar pre-existing technologies through UNIS’s research, the background technology part was filled out with the introduction of general steering wheel system which were developed by Nissan, Mitsubishi, etc. Based on the idea of client, sampling was introduced in details. And when the filing was prepared, it was concentrated to define as the comprehensive concept with considering its modifications and alterations later. When the independent claim preparation was completed, we have examined in every angles whether there are avoidable points at the sight of infringement without changing its concept. Finally the specification was completed with passing through many working level meetings. And this was applied in Korea, Japan and USA and registered its patent after their examination.
