Subject change of ownership of a trademark
Content we have two questions regarding the change of  ownership of a
trademark in your country:

a)      is the recordal of change of ownership in your country cost-free,
or if not, which is the fee to be paid?

b)      can  a foreign assignor  or assignee apply for the recordal
of change of ownership or  is a local representative required?

We thank you in advance for a prompt reply.
Reply To process the change of ownership, in accordance with Article 54
of the Korean Trademark Act and the Presidential Decree for Patent Registration
(Decree No. 17979), you need to submit the following documents:

- A written application for transferring the ownership of the right
  - A certificate for the cause of registration
  - A certificate of nationality
  - Written proof of the power of attorney
  - A receipt of local tax

Under the Article 5 of the Korean Patent Act,
if you don‘t have residential or business address in Korea,
you should appoint a representative
who has a residential or business address in Korea,
to initiate any patenting process.

The total expense depends on the number of trademarks.

You should pay two kinds of official fees as follows:
- Fee for registering a change of ownership:
113,000 Korean won per registered trademark
- Local tax for registering properties under the Local Tax Law:
10,800 Korean won per registered trademark

Sincerely,
